2003 Pepsi Hockey League Pushes off

The Beverage and Investments Limited sponsored Greater Accra Pepsi Hockey League pushed off with a dazzle Saturday morning at the National Hockey Pitch with 3 matches.

In the first match of the day, the Association enforced its strict penalty rule on lateness when Multistix were awarded 3 points and 5 goals by the match officials as stipulated by FIH, due to the late turn up of Citizens. In the second match, Golden Sticks went on the rampage when they pummeled defenseless Veterans by 8 goals to nil.

A star-studded Trustees, with the a line-up that many hockey enthusiasts labeled ‘Real Madrid’ took new entrants NDK Financiers through a baptism of fire with a 9-0 drubbing. The scoreline was a true reflection of the game, but the Financiers held their own together and were not disgraced against a defacto National side that was determined to make an early statement in this new season. 3 out of the 5 players recruited from bitterest rivals Exchequers, were on the score sheet for the men from the Trust claiming 5 of the total goal haul.

In the afternoon matches, Exchequers were awarded the 3 points and 5 goals after Reformers of Ghana Prisons were unable to raise the full complement of players for the match.

The women’s and juvenile competitions will push-off two weeks hence with some interesting pairings.
