20 teams to participate in inter-Embassy Games

Accra, Oct 7, GNA - About 20 Embassies and High Commissions have signed up to participate in this year’s Inter-Embassy Games pieced together by the United Kingdom High Commission billed for the El-Wak Sports Stadium, Accra on Saturday, October 8.

The Games, according to Seth Appiah-Agyekum, Protocol Officer of the British High Commission will have participants compete in Football, Monopoly, Volleyball, Scrabble, Basketball, Table Tennis, Chess, Sack Race, Track and field events as well as Tug-of-Peace among others.

Appiah-Agyekum said the foreign Missions will use the platform to educate the public about some of the process to acquire visas among other activities lined up for the event.

He said the games, aimed at fostering a fine relationship among the Missions and the general public will also have participants who excel receive various prices.

The Games, which has the African Origin Travel and Tourism as a major financier, is insured by Vanguard Insurance and Safety Insurance Brokers.

Vanguard Insurance has pumped about one million cedis as group personal insurance for all participants in a cover that takes care of accidental damage and bodily injury for the participants.

The games, a replica of the London 2012 Olympics is also aimed at informing the public about modalities of visa application and all the basics required to attend the quadrennial which has been christened ‘mini Olympics’ by the British High Commission.
