16 Karate-Do for camping

Accra, March 18, GNA - Sixteen members of the national Karate-Do will on Wednesday, March 24, begin a non residential camping at the Ohene Djan Stadium, Accra, towards the International Union of Federation of Africa Karate-Do (UFAK) Zone 3 championship slated for April 12-18 in Niamey, Niger.

The non residential camping is expected to last for one week, after which the Karatekas will go into residential camping fixed from April 3-9, at the National Hockey Stadium, Accra.

A statement signed by Patrick Anyidoho, General Secretary of the Ghana Karate-Do Association (GKA) copied to GNA Sports said the team will depart for Niamey, Niger on April 10, for the championship. The competition is expected to select karatekas for the Africa Karate Seniors Championship in Cape Town, South Africa in August.

Among the team of Karatekas making the trip are; Jeanu Awa, Richard Graham, Reuben Banful, Jerry Williams, Patrick Amakyi, Ernest Agogie, Victor Lartey, Isaac Edusei Eyison, Emmanuel Ofori, Bright Tetteh, Emmanuel Adjei, Samuel Obeng, John Asah, Adama Anani, Robert Adokoh and Adnan Basha. According to the statement, countries such as Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote D'Ivoire, Nigeria, Liberia, Togo and Niger are expected to participate in the event which spans from April 12-18, 2010.

The statement expressed the hope that the residential and non residential camping will afford the Karatekas the opportunity to prepare adequately for the championship in Niger.
