The 10th bi-annual tennis international friendly tournament between Burma Camp Tennis Club (BCTC) and the IBRAHIM BADAMOSI BABANGIDA (IBB) GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB (TENNIS SECTION) of Abuja comes off on Saturday 16th March at Command Mess Tennis Court, Burma Camp at 8.00 am.

It has always been and will remain the usual Ghana- Nigeria sports rivalry. What makes this year's tournament more competitive is the bold attempt by BCTC to break the jinx of 'host and win' in October last year in Abuja. For the first time on their own grounds their No 1 seed fell (to Dr Banka) and they escaped narrowly!. IBB has therefore sworn to 'draw first blood' to claim their 'big brother' status. A keen competition is awaited as BCTC is not prepared to surrender the 'seniority' of Ghana's independence to Nigeria in a tennis tournament- tofiakwa!

BCTC boasts of some of the best tennis stars in Ghana. They include stars such as Air Commodore AA Appiah the BCTC president, Air Vice Marshall Kadri, Mr Kojo Essel of GCB Bank, (Team Captain) ACP Agyen Agyemang, Dr Patrick Banka, Mr Abeiku Bentsi, Air Commodore Nana Asante, Mr Sarkodie of CDH, (Speaker). Others are, Lt Col (Dr) Ntumy (rtd), Mr J Danso ( Albino), Brig Gen George Adjei (rtd), Dr Albert Awuah, Jr, Alhaji Ibrahim Seidu(Wiper), Col Amuzu (rtd), Messrs Gregory Addah, Charles Dodoo, George Aidoo, Alhaji Imani and many more.

IBB asked for a week long postponement to fine tune their team led by their No1 seed and Team Capt Barrister Agabi Nkani. Stars in their team include AVM Salia Atawodi, Sen Emmanuel Anosike, Mr Yusuf Yahaya, Mr Ossi Agugua, Dr Chijioke Ekechukwu, and many more. They also have in their team a one time Ghana's National Junior Tennis Champion in the person of Mr Kofi Abankro. This tournament is proudly sponsored by GCB Bank, supported by BAJ FREIGHT, STANBIC BANK, CDH Group, Urban Development Consortium, SIC FINANCIAL SERVICES, KASSAPREKO, VOLTIC WATER and BEL AQUA. The Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, Group Captain Joshua Mensah-Larkai has vowed that his committee will not be the first to taste defeat from IBB.
