Vincent Kompany has found himself at the centre of an unusual pre-title ceremony moment in Munich, after reportedly arriving at Marienplatz without the Bundesliga trophy that was meant to be presented to Bayern Munich.

The Bayern Munich head coach had been entrusted with the trophy overnight following the club’s private celebrations.

However, in a surprising twist, Kompany allegedly left it at home in his kitchen, only realising the oversight upon arriving at Munich’s historic town square.

The situation quickly prompted a scramble behind the scenes. According to reports, Kompany’s wife stepped in to retrieve the trophy and brought it to Marienplatz.

But even then, the silverware faced another hurdle, she was unable to gain access to the town hall, where official proceedings were underway.

That’s when local security personnel were called into action. Four police officers, supported by a security guard, reportedly escorted the Bundesliga trophy through a back entrance of the building before safely delivering it to the Bayern Munich delegation just in time for the ceremony.

Despite the comic confusion, proceedings continued smoothly, with Bayern Munich eventually receiving the trophy amid celebrations from players and officials.

The incident adds an unexpected twist to what is usually a tightly choreographed title presentation in Germany, and a memorable anecdote for Kompany in his early tenure at Bayern Munich.
