Can Ashgold, Liberty and Lions sustain their rhythm?

Accra, Oct. 29, GNA - With three matches into the 2009/10 Premier League, Obuasi Ashgold, Liberty Professionals, Heart of Lions, King Faisal and Kessben FC seems to have made significant strides in the competition as they occupy the first to fifth positions on the ladder. The five clubs are separated with just a point and the outcome of Sunday's Fourth Week League matches will clearly define their respective positions at least by the close of the week.

But whether any of the teams have what it takes to sustain their rhythm in the three week old competition remains an answered question as they prepare to enter into tough battles on Sunday at the various league centres. For League leaders Ashgold, they will be presented with a difficult task at the El Wak Stadium, Accra, as they come up against Accra Great Olympics, who are yet to record a win in the competition.

This will definitely be a source of motivation for the "Dade Boys" to fight up to the tooth in search of the much needed three points to lift themselves off the bottom of the table.

The Miners, however, after picking seven out of nine points in the competition, will also be aiming at going back to Obuasi with the three maximum points to maintain their position on the apex of the table. And this, coach Dauda Luterodt of Olympics and David Duncan of Ashgold will seek to do by employing all the arsenals at their disposal to execute the task of grabbing the maximum points.

A critical consideration of the strengths of the two sides based on results so far gathered in the League makes Ashgold the favourite but the 'Wonder Boys' can be counted on to pull up a surprise.

With two draws and a defeat, Berekum Arsenals does not look good to pose any threat to the championship aspirations of Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi.

Arsenals, who have always been tough customers for Kotoko even at the Baba Yara Stadium, may be heading for their second defeat if the 'Fabulous' boys are to keep up their fighting spirit.

Defending League champions, Accra Hearts of Oak will have to ensure a massive improvement in their performance if they are to survive the threat of Sekondi Hasaacas at the Essipong Stadium.

This means, the Phobians will also have to keep some level of consistency in their line up and improve upon their tactics to be to battle with the "Hasmal Boys" who are determined to make an impact in this years' premiership.

At the Dorma Stadium, Aduana Stars will be hosts to Kpando based Lions in a match which could see visitors running away with at least a point if their track record and the calibre of players of each club is to be taken into consideration.

King Faisal will find tough customers in debutants New Edubiase at the Len Clay Stadium, Obuasi, whilst Wa All Stars will also mount a search for their first three points in the premiership at the Wa Stadium when they battle Dansoman Liberty Professionals.

Chelsea will be at the Golden City Park, Berekum to welcome Real Tamale United (RTU). With two loses and a win, Chelsea will be out to bag another three points at home against the 'Pride of the North' who are not good away performers. 29 Oct. 09
