Hearts held by Ashantigold

Accra, June 28, GNA - Accra Hearts of Oak relinquished an early lead to draw 1-1 with Obuasi Ashantigold in their penultimate 29th Week of the Premier League match played at the Ohene Djan Stadium, Accra on Saturday.

Hearts had laboured for a goal for the greater part of the first half and after wasting several chances, substitute Charles Taylor lit the arena with a fine opener just before the break. Taylor who replaced Eric Gawu who limped off after several failed attempts at goal scored from a spectacular angle from the right flank barely five minutes after his introduction into the game. Stirred by the goal, Hearts grew in confidence and begun to push the Ashgold defence to the reverse gear on many occasions with Kofi Abanga and Francis Bossman controlling things well for the Phobians from the middle.

Ashgold were however to start well from the recess and clutched heir dominance in the middle where David Telfer orchestrated moves but his colleagues upfront stayed wasteful. With the pendulum of action switching from one end to the other, Hearts regained the upper hand and appeared to be better placed to consolidate their lead.

But just when Hearts seemed to be cruising with all three points, Emmanuel Adjetey pulled Ashgold even on the stroke of time after the "Phobians" had poorly handled an invasion from the visitors. Hearts staged a fight but their goal scoring ambitions were deflated by a resilient Ashgold side that appeared content with a draw till the final whistle. 28 June 08
