Akufo-Addo And His Self Aggrandized Tendencies.

I read an article dated 26th Nov. 2012 on ghanaweb feature articles, titled “Mahama Is Not Humble, He Is Disrespectful, He Insulted Ashantis” and it reminds me of very pertinent but serious issues as long as Nana Addo presents himself to Ghanaians to be voted for as President of the Republic. This article is not a rejoinder to the said featured article which was written in very eloquent language by a level-headed columnist I presumed. But what the writer grossly overlooked in his critique is the thunderous silent heaped on Nana Akufo-Addo’s hot-headedness, flagrant arrogance and self aggrandizement. Maybe he flaunted that to be peaceful, politeness and humility. It surprises me the writer could not at least spare the good people of Ghana with his outlandish articulations in a deliberate attempt to turn 6 into 9 in the aforementioned title.

Prior to the prevailing situations, this was a man who was cherished amid his political opponents and hyped as humble, respectful, peacemaker and level-headed person. HE John Mahana was admired and hailed by all. He was a “laser” in the hands of the opposition with an unsharpened razor. Some NPP sympathizers even projected his flagship to vote for him. Lo and behold, their prayer was answered and the retort to God by answering such prayer is to vilify, castigate and malign His chosen man for Ghana, calling him all sorts of satanic names to discredit him and make such a GEM gloomy. But with God, all things are possible.

Nonetheless, Nana Akufo-Addo is well acclaimed in the New Patriotic Party to be the most rude, self aggrandized, arrogant and hot-headed person with no regard for everybody in the opposition New Patriotic Party. It was Nana Addo who insulted Ashantis by telling former President Kuffuor that, when their fathers and uncles were fighting for independence, where was his father. He blatantly told the gentle giant and his Victor Owusu hitherto Busia line politicians in the Danquah-Busia tradition to park somewhere when people like them are discussing politics. He claimed to be born into politics and understands it better than Kuffuor and his Ashanti gurus. These shameful pronouncements were made after former President Kuffuor defeated Nana Addo in the 1998 Sunyani congress to become the leader of the NPP in the 2000 elections.

What is more, Akufo-Addo was a well known snobbish individual in the Ghanaian august house when he represented the people of Akyem Abuakwa south because of his opulent background. He was known to disregard everybody in his parliamentary committee meetings including his party members for his ideas to stand supreme. Nana is filled with arrogance so much so that, his party people have to leave him at the mercy of the 2008 defeat he received in the hands of his school football teammate Prof J.E.A Mills (may his soul rest in perfect peace). Nana who could disgorge utterances very inimical to his party cares the less about it. Do we refer to that as submissive?

Reports then, in former President Kuffuor’s regime clearly indicated how rude and out of control this flag bearer of NPP can be when the President called on cabinet meetings. He (Nana Addo) walked out of the then President Kuffuor, showing clearly how disrespectful this person seeking the mandate of Ghanaians can be. He allegedly snubbed the President and refused to attend cabinet meetings immediately he was reshuffled from the Justice and Attorney ministry based on his ineptitude. This disrespect led to Nana Addo’s infamous misplacement of diplomatic passports which later were found with drug barons when he was sent to the Foreign affairs ministry.

Is it not Nana Akufo-Addo and his Akyem-Mafias who brazenly pound on Alan Kojo Kyeremanteng, his co-contender of the flagship in the 2007 historic congress forcing this stalwart to resign from the NPP but later made a U turn? Nana and his Akyem group think they are above reproach; therefore nobody in NPP is as important as they are. Such repugnant behavior obviously cannot be touted as humility? It is sheer arrogance and disregard for others. The credibility of such candidate in this election must be scrutinized meticulously and must not receive a second thought before taking a decision of voting against him.

It is Nana Addo who never accords former President Kuffuor his accolade by almost always referring to him as Kuffuor. Apart from age, this guru in NPP is the former President of Ghana but Akufo-Addo needlessly relegated that to the background and never had the courtesy to address him as such. And what do we subscribe that to in terms of trait? Disposition surely is a no go area putting side by side Nana Addo and John Mahama.

This arrogance by Nana made him think he must be the President of Ghana “at all cost”. Even if everybody has to die for him to become the President, then so is it according to Akufo-Addo. Surely, this does not bring peace in a Country and cannot be seen as a peace man. Apparently, no one matters to Nana and his NPP. All that matters is to become the President of Ghana at the spill of blood of innocent people. This brought the infamous “Yen Akanfuo”, calling on vulnerable souls to die for him to become President aghast religious groups and other civil society organizations calling on him to retract the statement; he paid no heed to that call and went about re-echoing it into the ears of NPP thugs creating an atmosphere of terror.

Nana Akufo-Addo referred to himself as born to thrive. He is born as a frontrunner and the best man for Ghana. This is contrary to humbleness. Invariably, the standard bearer of the NPP is putting himself above everyone in the country jeopardizing his chances of becoming the President of Ghana. In 2007, Nana could not secure 50% plus one votes of his party but has to be dashed the mandate by the all humble Alan “Kash” to lead the NPP to his subsequent defeat in the 2008 general elections. This sends a signal to egoistic Nana Akufo-Addo that, Ghanaians do not need self aggrandized personality but more humbled and down to earth person like His Excellency John Dramani Mahama.

Needless to talk about is digging deep to uncover his addiction to drugs which led to his reckless life style causing dearly the life of innocent souls. Nana Akufo-Addo as it stands now is horrified by his own shadow. Mr. William Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo is nothing but a “blockheaded” person who will always fail and get sacked in every credible academic institution in the world or at best complete with a third class as in the case of his bachelor’s. I dare say that the electorates must not risk putting their lives in Nana Addo’s care for he is a wolf, better still carnivorous dressed in the cloths of herbivorous.

In this regard, Nana Addo in a bid to pick up the pieces together upon engaging in these ruffian bustles is now running from one prayer camp to the other, from one grotto to a shrine, Pastor to a Mallam and so on and so forth seeking God’s protection, all in the veil of his impious self. The day of reckoning has come and Akufo-Addo must pay for his “Machiavellian” deeds by losing election 2012 woefully, sending him to a perpetual trance in politics.
