NPP Funding of the Free Senior High School Education

When the Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic party, (NPP) Nana Akuffo Addo came up with the idea that he will offer Ghanaians Free Senior High School Education at a cost of 78 million Ghana Cedis, some people began to wonder how he was going to fund that program. (Let me bring it to the attention of the reader that Nana Akuffo Addo will have only 9 months to implement the program) So a reporter asked him during one of his numerous tours across the country how he was going to fund the free senior high school education. Nana Akuffo Addo was quick to answer that under his administration, he will not pay judgment debts.
Soon after, some members of the communication team went to various radio stations to tell Ghanaians that under Nana Akuffo Addo’s administration, judgment debts would not be paid and that those monies would be used to fund the free senior high school program. It wasn’t long after that when the NPP realized that it is illegal to say or not to pay judgment debts. That undermines the authority of the courts.
When the NPP realized that they cannot fund the free senior high school program with judgment debt, they started saying that their education program would be funded with Ghana oil money. This propaganda also did not last long and they realized that, it is not possible to fund their free senior school education with Ghana oil money. So today, what they are saying is that the source of funding for their free senior high school program is GETFUND and “other” local sources of revenue. What they are refusing to tell Ghanaians, and which is the likely scenario is that they will INCREASE TAXES.
So you see, the NPP has funded the free senior high school education with judgment debt, then Ghana oil money, then GETFUND and finally “other” local sources of revenue. The NPP, under the leadership of Nana Akuffo Addo has no plans as to how to even fund the free senior high school education they are talking about. No wonder, when Sammy Awuku, a Deputy Director of the NPP Communication team was asked at Peace FM what structures are in place for the take-off of the free senior high school program, he answered that Ghanaians have not yet given them the mandate. You see, they want the mandate before they begin to plan how to fund the child who will become a Lawyer, Accountant, Engineer, Doctor, or a President’s education. Nana Akomea, a Director of Communications of the NPP was also asked on Radio Gold how much it was going to cost to fund a child under their free senior high school for one year and he said he did not know.
The bottom line is that the Free Senior High School education the NPP is promising is a HOAX. They do not even know how they are going to fund it and they do not have the people who are going to sit around a table to plan the implementation. Everything is bungled in propaganda because they believe Ghanaians want anything that is free. They forget that Ghanaians are now discerning.
Next time an NPP person comes to your house, village or town and promises you free senior high education, get a copy of your child’s breakdown of his or her school fees, and ask the NPP person which amongst the breakdown is free. You will be shocked to know which is free and which is not.
“NPP left a big mess for the NDC. They think the NDC is not cleaning it fast enough and so they want to come back and continue with the same mess”
