Mahama Must Submit Himself To Grassroots Election

PRESS STATEMENT BY; EASTERN ADVOCATES, USA

President Mahama Must Submit Himself To Grassroots Election

We find President John Mahama submission that God has already declared the December Election in the NDC's favour very distasteful, unacceptable, and ungodly.

We wish to remind President Mahama that he should go through the grassroots participatory elections to be elected as a flag bearer; where he will face other challengers and stop this unnecessary noise.

In 2011 following the demise of President Yar'adua of Nigeria, the People's Democratic Party(PDP) opened nominations for primaries. Current President Jonathan contested with Atiku Abubakar ;and by majority votes, Jonathan won, that is grassroots democracy. In our own country Ghana, late President Mills contested the NDC primaries with other Aspirants and won. Former President Kufour went through the grassroots participatory democracy and won. Nana Akuffo Addo of the NPP also went through the grassroot democratic elections and won among other contestants. None of these leaders had their election or nomination on a silver platter.

This unfair political vehicle that has pushed John Mahama to the top, is extremely undemocratic, dangerous, and averse to natural justice.

We therefore called on all patriotic Ghanaians to vote out President Mahama to enable him go through the political mill from 2013 and face other challengers from his own party such as Goosie Tanoh, Spio Garbrah, Haruna Iddrisu etc. President Mahama must submit himself to the rigorous presidential primaries that Messrs John Kufour, Atta Mills, Nana Akuffo Addo, and other presidential candidates went through. It is only then that, if John Mahama wins, he can be matured as a leader and assert his authority on his party.

Long live Ghana.

Signed
