Open Letter To Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom

Dear Dr Papa Kwesi Ndoum,

In all five Electoral exercises we have had in this Republic (and certainly in some Republics before this one), I have had occasion to observe Presidential Aspirants, and I can say confidently without fear of contradiction, that you are the individual who has proven himself capable and worthy, of leading our country to witness a sea change in its development Agenda.

Even though we have been touting the person and personality Nduom, in your campaigns, I believe we haven't upscaled it enough to gain leverage in our campaigns and consequently electoral fortunes.

If it wasn't for what Dr. Nkrumah did and stood for, from the 40's to 1950, he would NOT have won power in 1951, against well established political machineries, he did NOT necessarily win because of his CPP(not to take anything away from the CPP, of which I am a Card bearing member).

Ghanaian politics has a penchant for Personalities (even Personality Cults), which may not necessarily be a bad thing. It is general knowledge that Africa needs strong Institutions, NOT Strong men; it is however clear in any concerned mind, that Africa needs exceptional individuals, (NOT status quo leaders) who can lead it to witness the kind of development that has happened in places like South East Asia.

This in my view is what any Campaign for Nduom should espouse: that Nduom is the single individual among Aspirants, the current President included, who has shown that he can bring real hope to people and real progress to Ghana and Ghanaians. This is aside the ideals he shares with the CPP; let us force the so called Major Candidates/Players to play on the individual turf/front, where we will beat them. As it stands now, neither Nana Akuffo Addo nor President Mills, has demonstrated personal capacity, achievements or leadership skills and strategy to engineer a turn around in our development agenda, so they hide behind Party colours. This has forced Nana Addo's Team to project him as an individual who thinks big, and the whole brouhaha about who is more intelligent based on his College GPA. Let us no forget that the person/personality challenge is what won Candidate Mills the 2008 run-off.

I will not dwell much on the obvious willingness of our people to give their mandate to a different political party/individual. The onus lies on you to convince the voting populace that you are the single most deserving individual who has put himself up for the Presidency, and not lump you up with especially the NPP, or even the CPP which but for petty excuses, they are willing to vote for.

I am postulating a sum of the parts that make the total, theory; some people find it hard to recognize you as a different person, or offering something different from what was or had/has been the norm, and that is even one of the reasons why Ghanaians did not vote for you in 2008 (I know the timing of this statement might be passé), we were not able to project you as an alternative to the NPP. Let us strive to set you apart from the general system that was, during the NPP reign, and as the best alternative for change and development, an individual offering the best alternative to mediocre leadership, for bold leadership with vision, political will and people centered progress, not figures.

I am not advocating a parallel political establishment within one, but one which will use what we have (party machinery) together with any other resource, to push the agenda all about the Candidate, what he has, what he has done, what he can do, etc. Of course this will be when you have received the mandate of Congress. I am encouraged by your efforts at getting more volunteers across the country to know and propagate about you and the CPP, as well as what you are doing on the media front. It is my belief that if we intensify efforts at selling brand Nduom, we will be able to get a large political market share, especially floating voters who are Election deciders.

Thank you.

Together we effect Change!

Best regards,
