Is NDC sitting on a time bomb?

…JJ making the bullets for his henchmen to fire.

Recent developments in the ruling NDC government have left me wondering what at all is going in Ghana. Since the first few days of President Mills coming into power, ex-President Rawlings has never stopped casting doubts about the government’s ability to deliver. His words his been re-echoed by the likes of Dr. Spio-Garbrah, majority leader Bagbin to mention a few. Just a few weeks ago, JJ openly called some government appointees ‘greedy bastards’. His choice of words has not only been very degrading but heavily sentimental to say the least.

This morning I heard Alban Bagbin backing the ex-President’s claims of ‘greedy bastards’ surrounding the President and also went ahead to refer to some of them as ‘boot lickers’ wow!!!! My problem has been the fact that none of these so called bold, no-nonsense and out-spoken members of the NDC has mustard the courage to name the so-called, ‘sycophants’, ‘Team B’ , ‘greedy bustards’ and ‘boot lickers’ they are referring to but keep throwing their wild accusations out for the poor Ghanaian observer to speculate. They say if the truth of a matter is not known, public speculation is inevitable. So far people have been speculating about who these greedy bustards are? Some have even mention Defence minister Gen. H. Smith and other appointees as the main bulwarks surrounding the presidency who have made it difficulty for JJ and his henchmen as well as party foot soldier to breakthrough into the castle and force their agenda of ‘give jobs and political appointments to NDC members only’ ‘embark on mass witch-hunt of political opponents amongst others.

I am not a political party activist but a patriotic Ghanaian and my concern has been that if these distractions continue I strongly think it will hamper the progress of government in delivery its campaign promises to the ordinary Ghanaian. So far that has been the case. Eleven months or so of been in power the government has struggled with getting crude oil into the country, teachers are threatening strike action, the value of the cedi is falling against the world major currencies, armed robbery is on the rise, unemployment has increased, the Bawku crisis has gone away yet, accidents are still rampant on our Roads these are a few cases the ordinary good thinking Ghanaian is thinking about not how NDC foot soldiers like JJ and Nana Konadu should be given 24/7 access to the castle.

Mr. Rawlings, please support President Mills with your rich vein of experience if any where required and stop castigating him without justifiable cause. Whether Team A or Team B they have been given a mandate to serve the nation if the President feels they aren’t doing the work properly I believe he will reshuffle his government accordingly or he himself will be voted out in 2012. With all the problems Ghana is grappling with at present we don’t need all these distractions. I am a Ghanaian and would like to see government doing well for the good of Ghana. What is happening in the NDC is a case of boiling pot facing the party which if care is not taken will blast sooner than later with the boom of gaseous materials and molten magma erupting out of the ruling party there is no reason to believe there can be a split or power struggle before 2012. We should beware it doesn’t shift government’s focus on the national agenda which am afraid is happening already. We can’t sit down any longer for this to continue. Someone needs to call Rawlings to order before the bomb blasts. Ghana needs a stable and focused government to deal with the vital national issues with all urgency.

Thank You.
