The attention of NPP-USA has been drawn to a malicious publication carried by www.ghanaweb.com and www.modernghana.com on Thursday, April 11, 2013, titled “NDC Washington Metro Celebrates Victory Party in Style” and signed by the PRO of NDC-Washington Metro Area – a subsidiary of NDC-USA.
In the last paragraph of the said publication, NDC-Washington Metro stated to have had delegates from NPP-USA who graced their so-called victory party. I would like to state on authority that NPP-USA was not invited to this function. The National Executive Council did not get any invitation to any NDC organized function. Our Chapter in Washington, DC and Metro Areas did not get any invitation either.
I would like to state for the record that if NPP-USA had been invited, the branch would have declined such invitation without any equivocation. NPP-USA would not have legitimized illegitimacy. How can we celebrate a “victory” that we have not recognized? A “victory” that is being challenged in the Supreme Court of Ghana. A “victory” that many patriotic citizens here in the USA, Europe, UK and elsewhere are brazen the winter’s cold to demonstrate to the world that it is an ugly phenomenon that has the potential to derail our infant democracy.
The said publication is only an infantile attempt by NDC-USA and its subsidiaries to publicly attempt to salvage the already tainted image and presidency of John Mahama and their party after perpetuating electoral fraud to steal the sovereign will of Ghanaians. We hold high and strongly support the decision taken by the leaders of our party in Ghana. And we will continue to rally behind them in thick or thin, and with all our strength, ideas, and wherewithal.
NPP – USA would therefore want to sound a word of caution to NDC-USA and its chapters, that we will not countenance such reckless reportages embedded in mischief and battiness, and apparently calculated to soil our hard-earned reputation.
We are ready to engage our political opponents on substantive issues that will move our nation forward. We can even collaborate with NDC to work together on functions that will educate our people on democratic tenets and progressive ventures. But we will fiercely resist any attempt to draw the name of NPP-USA into their pathological lies and malicious fabrications.
NPP-USA is therefore calling on the general public to treat the publication under scrutiny – and its related stories yet to surface – with all the contempt it deserves. For it is a vile fabrication with no iota of truth in it.
Nana Agyei Yeboah, Chairman, NPP-USA.
