NCOGA Presents 2011 Annual Picnic/Durbar & Concert in NY

On Saturday, August 6 2011, NCOGA will be hosting its annual summer picnic at the beautiful Roy Wilkins Park in Jamaica, Queens. This year’s event is a two part picnic cum durbar replete with a procession of Chiefs, a cultural display from all the regions of the country and a super concert featuring two of the top Ghanaian artistes. The event will be broadcast live on Bronxnet TV and attendees will be given the opportunity to send greetings or messages to loves ones live from the event.

As noted earlier, the cultural extravaganza is aimed to promote the diversity of Ghanaian culture on the international stage. Local cultural troupes will be performing their ethnic and regional dance and music as well as food and other assortments. There will be vendors displaying products, exposition on sports, culture, health and education. There will also be a variety of competitive activities such as soccer, volleyball, ampe and tug of war competition. Doctors on the Hudson and Ghanaian Nurses Association will also be on hand to provide free health screening to all. A taste of Ghana combined with traditional drumming and youth performances.
