Methodist Church Ghana Inaugurates Another Society In Worcester

North America Mission Of The Methodist Church Ghana Inaugurates Another Society In Worcester, Massachusetts

The Ghana Wesley Methodist Church, the 14th Society of the North America Mission was inaugurated recently in Worcester, Massachusetts. The Society which boasts of a vibrant 50 membership was successfully ushered into the fellowship of The Methodist Church Ghana by Very Rev. Kofi Bart- Martin, Mission Chairman following a 3-day Revival led by Rev. Charles F. Acquah and Very Rev. Stephen K. Owusu, Superintendent Minister of the New York/New Jersey Circuit. The new Society currently falls under the said Circuit.
The theme for the Revival and Inauguration was “Behold the Lamb of God”. Very Rev. Kofi Bart-Martin, Chairman of the Mission preached the Sermon on the theme. Very Rev. Dr. J.A.K. Bonful, immediate past Chairman of NAM administered the Lord’s Supper.
At the said Service which climaxed the 3 day program, the Society was formally inaugurated and new Leaders introduced to the Congregation after they had been inducted into office. The Leaders including Caretaker, Bro. Benjamin Yeboah and Society Steward Bro. Kwasi Boakye-Yiadom then joined members to praise the Lord in song and dance. Members of the other Societies of the Circuit and others from the Washington Mission Circuit joined the members of Ghana Wesley Society to celebrate the new exploit of the Lord in the North America Mission.
As part of the inauguration, the members of the Ghana Emmanuel Youth Fellowship and Sis. Melody Frempong of “Onyame Beye Wo ho Aduro” fame who also happens to be a member of Ghana Wesley Society, Brooklyn led the Congregation in a refreshing time of praise and worship. The Clergy present and some Leaders of the Society also visited two Radio Stations in Worcester to spread the word that Ghana Methodism has taken root in Worcester and would soon spread wildly in the area.
The Ghana Wesley Society is in fact the second Society of the NAM in Worcester, the first being the Good Shepherd Methodist Church which was inaugurated some three years ago. The teeming number of Ghana Methodists in that State has caused the Mission to look at the possibility of spreading the wings of Ghana Methodism in those environs. Plans are underway to start more Societies in that area with view, God willing, to establish a Circuit of the Methodist Church Ghana in that area sooner rather than later. The two Societies are thus to be active in this regard a source close to the NAM Administration volunteered.
Bro. John Koomson, a Leader of the Ghana Wesley Society, Brooklyn, who was present at the Inaugural Divine Service, told our Reporters that the Society has a good future because their numbers was encouraging. “We do not have this always. The members are very active and enthusiastic especially with the singing of Hymns and songs. They have the zeal to do the work of God. Their membership is very encouraging with more joining every Sunday. They however need to know the Methodist system so they carry on the right way and I hope the Mission will see to this”, Bro. Koomson concluded.
