Narkwa citizen in USA donates computers to schools

Narkwa (C/R), Nov. 7, GNA - Dr Fifi Essel, a citizen of Narkwa based in the United States, has donated two computers, a projector and a telephone for the establishment of an Information Communication Technology Training Centre for schools at Narkwan. Nana Idum VI, Chief of Narkwa and Akwamuhene of Ekumfi Traditional Area, presented the items on behalf of his nephew to the schools. He said ICT had become an important subject in the present computer age which no student could ignore if he or she wanted to move with time. The chief said computer literacy had become a pre requisite for getting employment and appealed to the citizens, especially those residing outside, to provide more computers for the centre and for the schools.

Nana Idum appealed to the Ghana Education Service to organize computer training courses for teachers to enable them to handle the subject efficiently in the schools. The Reverend P.B. Dapaah, Local Manager of the Methodist Primary and Junior High schools who received the items on behalf of the schools, expressed gratitude to the donor and appealed for more computers.
