"Come home" - Kufuor invites Ghanaians abroad

THE President Mr J. A. Kufuor, has called on Ghanaians abroad to work towards attracting more investments into the country to help accelerate the pace of national development.
He was addressing a meeting of the North America NPP branch at the State House.
The President appealed to Ghanaians abroad to use whatever connections they have to ensure that more investment flow into the country.
He said that as residents of their chosen countries, they are well placed to impart some of the advanced ideas they have picked up, to help their country back home.
The President encouraged them to promote joint ventures in Ghana in order to provide wealth for themselves and the country and generate jobs for the youth.
He referred to the substantial contributions of Ghanaians abroad and expressed concern over their continued disenfranchisement.
“There is no need to disenfranchise Ghanaians simply because they live outside the country,” he added.
The President also wondered why the issue of dual nationality has not been resolved since it has been sanctioned by parliament. He therefore promised to ensure its implementation as soon as possible.
Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, appealed to Ghanaians in the diaspora to consider the NPP government as their own and contribute to ensure its success.
“We want to assure you that this is a government that is prepared to listen and accommodate all views,” he added.
Alhaji Mahama said that the victory of the NPP has set the stage for a refreshing change and urged them to take advantage of it.
The NPP National Chairman, S. A Odoi-Skyes, expressed the party’s appreciation to its overseas branches for their financial, material and moral support to the party, and urged them to feel proud of the victory.
The North America branch was led by its Chairman, Dr K. Barwuah Edusei.
The delegation raised the issue of dual nationality and voting rights and pledged their preparedness to assist the new regime to realise the hopes and aspirations of Ghanaians.
