Ambassador to Italy presented with Letters of Credence

Accra, Aug. 16, GNA - President John Agyekum Kufuor on Wednesday, presented Ghana's new Ambassador to Italy, Mr Charles Agyei Amoama, with his Letters of Credence at the Castle, Osu.

The Ambassador had earlier taken three Oaths, the Oath of Allegiance, Oath of Office and the Oath of Secrecy, administered by the President.

President Kufuor reminded him that Italy was important to Ghana and he should therefore work to bring to the nation the benefits for which, he was being sent there.

Rome, he observed was the base of many international agencies, a global crossroad and said the Ambassador must be equal to understanding the economic, cultural and other influences in that great city. Mr Amoama thanked President Kufuor for elevating him from the position of a Deputy High Commissioner to an Ambassador and pledged to sustain and build upon the good relations between Ghana and Italy. He said he would focus on attracting investments to boost the country's economy.

Mr Amoama until his appointment served as a Deputy High Commissioner at Ghana's Mission in Canada.
