Dr. Michael Agyakum Addo, Director of KAMA Education Project (KEP), has told students who undertook a course in entrepreneurship training at KEP to propagate the message of self-employment.
The Entrepreneurship Training Programme by KEP is aimed at helping interested persons start and grow their own businesses.
“Many people see problems and complain about them -- educational problems, financial problems, political problems -- but the issue is how we are able to solve the problems.
“Whereas some see the problem as an opportunity to get rich by solving it, others hide their heads and do not challenge themselves,” he said.
He urged the students to use their right imaginative brain, with the help of their five sensory organs, to see opportunities to create jobs and employ others.
“Go out there like the innocent pencil that was told before being sold out to the world: ‘be of use to people. You will experience occasional painful sharpening, correct mistakes; and on every surface you are used on, leave a mark no matter the conditions’.
“See opportunities just like the pencil. As long as you will allow your talent to show and shine, you will be of use to people,” he said.
He said they should not be afraid to start creating jobs, because once they start, with determination and hard work they will succeed.
Dr. Agyakum Addo said starting a business is not all about money, but rather attitude and mindset, saying: “do not spend more than you earn; develop the culture of saving and you can expand your business when you start.”
Speaking about the entrepreneurial course, he said it will help students to develop an understanding of the right mental outlook in the business world, and learn how to apply the skills to building a highly successful venture in any kind of business.
He added that students are taught how to be creative and innovative whilst mastering their managerial leadership skills and coaching capacity to meet global challenges.
Emmanuel Dougan, the representative of the class, said students have acquired a lot of entrepreneurial skills that will make them successful in creating their own businesses.
“We no longer have any excuse to be poor after passing through the programme successfully. We will go into the business world and practice successfully.”
He thanked Dr. Agyakum Addo and urged him to continue imparting entrepreneurial knowledge to the youth, teachers and people across the country.
