Tarkwa, Nov. 4, GNA - Some 217 workers of Anglogold Ashanti Iduapriem have been awarded for dedicated and long service to the company.

They have served the company between five and 20 years and were presented with roofing sheets, generators, refrigerators, cement and gas cookers.

Presenting the awards Mr. Billy Mawasha, the Managing Director of the company, said the honour was in recognition of the dedication and hard work made by the 217 employees over the past 20 years.

"Your dedication, steadfastness, diligence and honesty have contributed to the steady growth of the company," he said.

He said the awards scheme started in 1995 and the recognition was as a result of the Tailings Storage Facility and the manner in which the workers quickly organized themselves to solve the problem.

Mr. Mawasha said the management will continue to provide conducive working environment to enable them to give off their best while at the same time assisting them to develop their career.
