BAT shareholders sell off shares as company de-lists

Accra, Aug. 31, GNA - Shareholders of BAT on Friday sold more than one million shares as the tobacco company took a bow from the Accra bourse after completing its processes of de-listing.

The company sold 1,038,800 shares out of a total of 1,175,70 shares that exchanged hands on Friday, but the share price remained the same at GH cedis 0.4266. The volumes traded were, however, lower than the 7.899 million that changed hands on Thursday.

BAT is shutting its manufacturing plant at Takoradi.

The GSE All-Share Index inched up by 0.07 on the rise Ecobank and Ghana Commercial Bank while the main index, the GSE All-Share Index ended at 5,557.38 points from 5,557.31 points. Change for the year ended at 11.01 per cent. Market capitalisation ended better at GH cedis 11,707.71 million from GH cedis 11,707.67 million.

There were two price changes, both positive.

GCB gained GH cedis 0.0001 at 0.9502 GH cedis at Gh cedis 0.9502 and Ecobank Ghana also inched up by GH cedis 0.0001 at GH cedis 1.5156.
