The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and creative Arts, has met with it stakeholders on domestic tourism project to share ideals, knowledge and experience with the aims of providing them a genuine solid policy direction for developing a strategy and achievable implementation plan and program to promote domestic tourism. Speaking at the meeting held in Accra, the Minister for tourism, culture and creative art, Elizabeth Ofosu Adjare said the international tourism has been highlighted due to its capacity for generating the much needed foreign exchange for various destinations. According to the minister, statistics on domestic tourism are unavailable or inadequate, since these happen to be some challenges with domestic tourism. She made a recognition towards the previous efforts by the Ministry and the Ghana Tourism Authority through such programmes as the domestic tourism promotion through schools, organization of ambassadorial/corporate tours during some special events as well as the formation of tourism clubs in some schools. Elizabeth Ofori Adjari said, it is the hope of the ministry to broaden community participation and ownership in tourism development and use it as a catalyst to improve the quality of facilities and services nationwide. Mr. Nyarko Mensah, acting director of corporate affairs of GBC stated on the potential that domestic tourism holds for the country has made them come on board as partners to the stakeholder, effort to promote domestic tourism.
