Beautiful Faces Gather At The Industry Awards of GMA 2006

Golden Tulip Hotel played host to a rare gathering of stars on Thursday 2 March 2006. The turnout was impressive and the evening was a huge success with lots of celebrities and creative musicians in attendance.

This year?s Industry award ceremony in a dinner format was held amidst cheers and high celebration. There were performances by King David who performed songs from his old albums like ?Aye Fe Notse? featuring Batman, A. B. Crentsil treating us to good highlife music and an ecstatic Praye and Wutah performing songs from their repertoire together.

As part of the GMA 2006 celebrations, the Industry Award ceremony aims at honouring some few artistes and industry practitioners such as executive producers, sound engineers and the likes.

Like previous editions, this year?s event had two occasions rolled into one. The first was the presentation of awards to those who deserved them.

The New Gospel Artiste award went to Florence Obinim with ?Lolo Juju? by Amandzeba Nat Brew winning the Traditional Song of the Year award. Apietus also added his name to the list of winners taking home the Recording Engineer of the Year award.

Kwabena Kwabena who has enjoyed a lot of attention nowadays, won the Songwriter of the Year award with the Music Producer and Record Label of the Year awards going to Ofori Amponsah and Big Ben Music Production respectively.

Last year, Kwaade?s video of ?Yeeko Mmaa Pe? saw Gerald Ogyee (Phamous People) winning the Best Video Director award but this year, Kuna took it home with the video of ?Bra Fie? by Amandzeba Nat Brew.

The Traditional Group of the Year award went to New Generation Borborbor whilst Nii Ashitey (Wulomei) won the MUSIGA Music Merit award.

Then the place was set for mouth-watery meals. The artistes, media and guests whilst enjoying themselves on the table were being treated to good music by the evening?s band.

Organised by the now reigning organising kings Charter House, it was a night of music, culture and having something to eat.
