Real Stars Series Launched

In the quest to put Ghana on the entertainment map, a UK-based Ghanaian music and arts promotions organisation with an outlet in Accra on New Year’s Day, launched a programme that will lead to the formation of an all-female band to be known as Sisters in Rhythm.

Ram Productions, the UK-based company, launched a programme dubbed “Real Stars Series” which will unearth talents in the arts at the Yegoala Night club at Dansoman, a suburb of Accra.

In a welcome address to the press and a few talented girls who were there to find out more about the programme, Yaw Duah Osei, Event Co-ordinator, said that the "Real Stars Series" is the first of many arts-oriented events planned to hunt for young talents to lift up the flag of Ghana world-wide.

He mentioned that apart from road shows which will take the hunt into the communities, to the villages and cities across the country, selected ladies who should be within the age range of 18-25 will be given all the facilities necessary to make them world class performers.

In his speech before he launched the event, Richard Mugenzi, Chief Executive Officer of Ram Productions disclosed that they have been nurturing the dream of setting up an all-female band for the past four years.

According to him after interactions with his team they have put together an elaborate programme that would ensure that the six selected ladies would be treated as true professionals.

The CEO also indicated that the ladies will be based in the UK, where they will receive further grooming to bring them up to the international standards before launching them on the world music scene.

He indicated that the main objective of the "Real Stars Series" is to have a crop of true Ghanaian professionals who will sell Ghana worldwide like the Osibisa did for Ghana.

The search will begin with auditions in four major cities namely, Zone One (Upper East, Upper West and Northern Regions); Zone Two (Ashanti, Brong Ahafo and Eastern Regions); Zone Three (Western and Central Regions) and Zone Four (Greater Accra and Volta Regions).

Twenty contestants who will qualify would be camped for the quarterfinal event which will involve concerts and entertainment programmes.

The number will be pruned down in a reality show that will be aired on a television network until the selection of the final six at a grand final event.

Mr Mugenzi after thanking some individuals and organisations such as Tony Yeboah, Joy FM, Astrous Airlines, Rhino Energy Drink, Hot FM and Adom FM, for their support, launched the event by popping champagne and toasting to the success of the programme.

Some personalities involved with Ram Productions who were present at the event included Albert Johnson, Albert Boateng-Bediako and Akosua Agyepong.
