Musicians & Fans Help In Celebrating Obour

‘Nana’ Obour’s concert dubbed ‘Celebrating Obour’ finally came to an end last week Saturday at the Conference Centre.

Ghana Music.com takes you behind the scenes of the concert, so relax and read.

The show which commenced with champagne popping and cake cutting at the main hall of the venue saw Obour interacting with some fans and some dignitaries.

Noble Nketsiah treated the audience to songs like 'Momme Tie' and 'Mmofra Yi' as he came out from the audience dressed in all white

Praye got all the cheers as they took the stage by surprise when they came through with an Akon beat before singing ‘Shoddy’ live.

When Castro stepped onto the stage, the fans go wild. Castro sang a few of his songs like 'Bone Shaker' and 'Toffee'. What even made everyone get up on his feet was when he allowed the audience to sing the chorus.

The show also included a grand entrance from Christiana Love, who were among Obour’s special guest artistes.

Nescafe African Revelations' last year participants and newcomers to the raglife scene, Wutah also performed ‘Dreams’ and ‘Goosie Ganda’.

K. K. Fosu chose ‘Kyere’ and ‘Anadwo Yede’ from his album to celebrate it with Obour. From there, Obour turned the spotlight on his protégés, beginning with Wutah, who performed.

Following surprise stage appearances by Obour, Obour entered looking like a chief with his followers, and quickly took off all the chief regalia after the opening song ‘Atentenben’.

Later, Obour used 'Highlife' as a segue to address what he knows about Ghanaian music which has given birth to hiplife. He later did a song with Rocky Dawuni.

After changing gears with ‘Menwu Biom’, Obour then took the centre stage for a little game of what he called "Mention Any Song Of Reggie Rockstone And I Will Sing It". He then started rapping 'Chuckachaka' (a song by Reggie Rockstone). Suddenly, Reggie climbed onto the stage to rap with him .

While some section of the audience raised their hands and sang along from the beginning to the end of ‘Konkntibaa’, others seemed to dance by the time "Konkontibaa" came at the end of the show.

Obour ignited the audience that eventually cooled for Akatakyie who rounded the show up.

The show which was predicted to be the show of the year was not so but could have been 100 percent? excellent if Obour had rehearsed more with the Space Band and some artistes like Ofori Amponsah, Rex Omar, Kofi Nti, Nkasei, FBS, had turned up to get the stage all fired up. ?
