The Soja Tour Was Beyond Ordinary At The Labadi Beach

There are events and there are programmes but what happened at the Labadi Beach on May 1 popularly known as May Day was something beyond ordinary. I cannot even figure out the word to describe it. Should I say it was super-perfect or it was tremendous. No! That will be an understatement. You should have been there to judge for yourself.

The Soja Tour train parked backstage to unload its passengers namely Tinny, Okra, Lucky Mensah, 2 Toff, Castro, Okyeame Quame, Nkasei, Joe Frazier, Lorgorzor, Nana Antwi, Popa, LA, Akasanoma, Bacteria, and the likes to make their way onto the stage.

The show attracted a crowd of over thousand with some even struggling outside to make their way through and shouting the name of Nana Quame implying they were yearning to see Nana Quame perform.

Suddenly, I hear people screaming and shouting when I was not looking. I turn around to see what is happening and oh, there is VIP, Tic Tac, 2 Face, Tony Tetuilla, Kenni and Dayo of Kennis Music Production and Edmund of Gye Nyame (UK) coming towards the entrance.

VIP then steps onto the stage to lead the crowd into the musical world. With their dynamism on stage, they were able to warm up the crowd for other performances. Tic Tac then punishes the crowd with his ‘Kwani Kwani’ track and invites Tony Tetuilla to help him out on ‘Fefe Na Efe’.

When Castro comes upstage, the crowd go berserk as he sang songs from his repertoire like ‘Toffee’ with his dancers doing their own thing on the dance floor.? Okyeame Quame also added his name to the list of ‘crowd-movers’ when he sang ‘W’ate Ahwe Ne Do Mu’.

2 Toff then comes onstage next to show the crowd what time it was as they sang ‘Yenabra’ featuring Castro which nearly tore the place. Akasanoma also gave a good account of himself when he represented on stage.

Other performances came from Nkasei who moved the crowd into frantic ecstasy, Joe Frazier, Popa and LA.

Then the moment we were all waiting for came when Nana Quame out of nowhere bounced onto the stage. The ladies started screaming and swooning and the guys were trying to climb onto the stage just to touch him. Some even wanted to pull him off the stage into the crowd when he started punishing them with songs like ‘Asemsebe’, ‘Koye Me Ho Adee’ and ‘Soja’.

All good things must pass, however, so shortly before 11:00 pm. Once again, Nana Quame together with the other artistes left a lasting impression.
