Huge Gospel Treat For Joy

Josh Laryea Joy FM?s tenth anniversary was the reason for last Saturday?s Thanksgiving Gospel Concert held at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).

But going by the rich line-up of artistes, the vibrating rhythms and the stomping of hundreds of audience feet, the real cause of the ?party? might have been lost. At many times during the marathon five-hour show, it was as though the AICC had been turned into one big convention.

Rev. Owusu Ansah, one of the MCs was the first to get almost all the audience on their feet as he sang a series of praise songs.

With handkerchiefs waving high in the air and hands clapping to the rhythm of the songs he sang, Rev. Owusu Ansah was later joined on stage by some staff of Joy Fm who brightened the stage with their bright red T-shirts and caps to match.

The dancing went on all night. Some members of the audience could be seen bare-footed while they jumped and danced to tunes from their favourite artistes.

Just the mention of names like Christiana Love, Seth Frimpong, Josh Laryea, Suzzy and Matt, Agnes Opoku, Tagoe Sisters and the Daughters of Glorious Jesus was enough to generate excitement in the audience.

Even with the absence of Monica, a member of the Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Cynthia and Edna were at their best singing hits from their repertoire.

As they sang, they thrilled the audience with fascinating dance movements especially when Cynthia, the leader of the group added an interesting touch to Bebrebe, a song from their last album.

Probably giving a little of what the audience might have missed out at the Beenie Man concert the previous night, Josh Laryea, as his stage opener, sang Beenie Man?s Praise Him. With this, he had most of the people moving ?to the left in the name of Jesus? and ?move to the right in the name of the Lord?

His own song Ngboo saw everybody standing on their feet while a few others kept running from one corner of the auditorium to the other singing along and enjoying every bit of it.

As the artistes kept coming and going, the audience showed no sign of tiredness. Even at the latter part of the show when one would have expected people to just sit back and enjoy the rest of the show they were still up on their feet dancing all throughout.

They were on their feet dancing to various songs from artistes such as Lady Prempeh, Kwaku Gyasi, the Dancing Prophet and Tagoe Sisters who were at their very best that night.

With a well prepared band backing each artiste coupled with good sound effects without any technical hitches, Joy Fm gave all those who had gathered at the AICC to celebrate their 10th anniversary with them, their money?s worth.
