Kojo?s 24th Night Ritual

Kojo Antwi @ last year's concert For the past eleven years Kojo Antwi has consistently performed for his numerous fans on the eve of Christmas.

Even without an announcement, the fans expect his shows on 24th night. His advertisement when they come, only confirm the obvious and give an indication of who else will be on the show.

With time, the concerts have evolved into something more sacred and ritualistic. This year Freedom Family Entertainment presents the 24th Night Concert under the title ?The African Music Festival? and describes it as a Christmas Eve extravaganza.

Why has it become festival? Because it does not only shows case the Maestro?s music, but that of other top class artistes from Ghana and elsewhere. Thus the presentation on the eve of Christmas becomes a fulfilling one that stays with the patrons till the next ones comes.

At the National Theatre today the African Music festival will feature live on stage a full band, the Maestro, the indomitable West African Male Artiste of the Year at the KORA Awards Kojo Antwi. Performing alongside him on the programme will be Freddie Meiway the Ghanaian born Ivorian star who has a big following in the country.

Good old Rex Omar one of Ghana?s finest and outspoken musicians will also feature on the programme.

 If you have heard of message of the scent that is spreading everywhere, be at the National Theatre to receive confirmation of the message from Sidney. He is sure to be there with his supporting dancer Adjoa Smart who will thrill patrons with her deft and mimble footed dance movements.

The Daughters of Glorious Jesus are also on the bill to provide a religious angle to the festival expected as usual to get the audience on their feet to dance from the beginning to end.

Of course there will be another performer who will only be announced at the festival. Who will this mystery artiste be?

If those who watched the Miss Ghana event last Saturday where were dazzled by MC Kwesi Kyei Darkwa, the audience at the festival must expect some more spectacular sharing from the seasoned compere who will host the programme today.

Other regions that will benefit from the African Music Festival include Takoradi at the Plaza on December 26, Koforidua at Eredec Hotel on December 27, Kumasi on January 2 and Obuasi on January 3, 2004.

On thing is for sure, Kojo as usual will mesmerize the audiencewith his criss cross reggae, highlife rhythms and stagecraft that is exclusively his.
