“Castro is not hiding from anyone” - Manager

The hard working manager of Hiplife genre Theophilus Tagoe whose showbiz name is Castro D’Destroyer and Prince Opoku alias Ras Kelly, Mr. Darlyn Amess-Kotei Jnr. aka DJ Amess, has denied reports that the police is looking for the two to assist in their investigation into the murder of one Darren Danso, who was shot dead at Aphrodisiac night club a few weeks ago.

He described the publication as vicious, wicked, useless, fabrication, dubious and an attempt by the paper and its writer to destroy and damage the hard won reputation of the artist and his dancer without their side of the story.

“Last week Tuesday we went to the Showbiz office where we were warmly received by the acting editor Mr. Sammy Okantey who after listening to us explain that their crime reporter was only handed the information from the police so it was not done under any malice and he apologizes for any inconvenience that the publication might have caused us” DJ Amess explained.

When they met with the writer, Mary Mensah according to their manager, she also expressed the same sentiments and was sorry for what happened but unfortunately that was the information given to her. When asked why she didn’t cross check?

She replied that when the police is looking for somebody and can’t trace the persons whereabouts, her own words “they fall on us to put it in the paper and by so doing they can easily trap the culprit. We did it in the case of Mr. Aggudey, so is not like we hate you but that was the information I had.” She explained.

But when she was told that Castro doesn’t live in Dansoman whiles Kelly lives around Hansonic near Asoredanho she didn’t give any further explanations only to say she was sorry for all that happened.

According to DJ Amess they also protested vehemently about the way Black Rasta of Hitz Fm fame was trying to go about the whole issue. The acting editor also confirmed the story that he was then at Aburi and he over heard Rasta picking their lead and twisting it to suit his own agenda. “I tried to call to the program but to no avail. It was not the best for the gentleman to behave the way he did” he said

“There is no iota of truth in the said publication and we are still talking to our lawyers for our next line of action. I wonder why an experienced paper like Showbiz, whose reputation is well known in the country, should stoop so low like that. I challenge the paper and the writer Mary Mensah to produce this simple evidence that really:

1.    The Police went to the accuser’s house to look for them and left message.

2.    That they went looking for the two and could not traced their where about.

3.     That really Ras Kelly was in the car which was used for the shooting

“ Initially I wanted to ignore the issue but when people started calling me to acquire from me of what was happening I decided to act swiftly so I called my lawyer who advices us to verify from the police CID headquarters whether they wanted the two boys”

“So we went there on our own volition without duress or arrest. We got there around 10.30am where we reported to one Mr. Akakpo in Room 10, forth floor. He asked us of our mission and when we told him, he asked of his PRO, and said “I don’t put stories in the papers. I have told him to tell me anytime he wants to put stories in the media” he directed us to one Mr. Dankwa.

“For more than three hours we were at the charge office room 7 until around 3pm before the boys, Castro, Ras Kelly and Nana Yaw (L’Wyane) were interrogated and their statement were tak by Mr. Appiah and they finally asked us to go and if they needed them they will call them” According to DJ Amess nobody harassed or forced the boys to say something. He said the police from their body language did not show any sign of wanting the ace musician and his dancers left alone wanted on their list.

“The truth of the matter is that Castro in company of three other guest Kelly, L’Wayne, and a lady friend from Liberia visited the night club and they were there when the news came that somebody has been shot so they all rushed to the scene but left WITH CASTRO’S CAR but NOT ANY OTHER CAR as being circulated. There were a lot of people there including colleagues musicians, and if it is true that Ras Kelly joined another car other than Castro’s own they will see it and report appropriately, the police can cross check. Even though I wasn’t there my personal investigation revealed that the five boarded Castro car-Honda and left the scene.”

In any case Castro has not traveled outside the country for the past two months or so. The only time we traveled was last two weeks when we went to Akwatia for Agoro show. All along Castro was in Accra not invisible but visible performing live on TV3’s MUSIC-MUSIC and Metro TV’s MTN Sports Academy Reality show in the full glare of the public. Where then did the police go and could not trace them? So what shows that Castro has gone to hibernation with his dancer Kelly? We went to the police station ourselves you can cross check from the CID head quarters. Nobody invited us or arrested them.

“Do you know the effect of this publication?” he asked?

“Somebody can just stand up one day to say that these guys know something about the shooting of our friend or brother to revenge innocently, so we want the case to be seriously investigated and my boys cleared”, he said.

Asked what action they will take DJ Amess simple said since the case is still under police investigation we should live them to do their work and we will react appropriately.
