'I shall complete Nalerigu-Bunkpurugu and township roads' – John Mahama promises constituents

Former President John Dramani Mahama has lamented the state of the Eastern Corridor roads and promised that, upon regaining political power, all those roads, including "the road from Nalerigu to Nakpanduri to Bunkpurugu," will be made "a number one priority."

The Eastern Corridor Roads are in a "deplorable condition," and former President John Dramani Mahama has promised to complete the job if re-elected.

President Mahama made this promise when he visited Kambatiak as part of his tour of the Bunkpurugu constituency.

Kambatiak is a suburb of the Bunkpurugu Constituency, which is located in the North-East Region.

Speaking at a durbar to welcome him, the flagbearer of the NDC addressed the chiefs present in a manner befitting their status.

"When I was coming, I saw that they had put some gravel on the road, and I know that's what the New Patriotic Party (NPP) does," he told the people.

The former President observed that the strategy of the incumbent NPP is to wait until elections "before we see contractors."

"After the elections are over, the contractors stop work," former President Mahama observed.

According to him, the road to the durbar grounds was in a deplorable condition.

During his tenure, he started road works, but unfortunately, the incumbent NPP administration stopped the works.

The Eastern Corridor roads, which cover 696 kilometers, stretch from Tema in the Greater Accra Region all the way to Kulungugu in the Upper East Region.

This road is being built in different stages, called lots.

The Eastern Corridor passes through a number of towns, of which the Bunkpurugu Constituency is an integral part, due to the fact that it connects Ghana to Burkina Faso.

Dr. Abed Lamangin Bandim, the Member of Parliament for the Bunkpurugu constituency, appealed for the establishment of a Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institution in the next administration of the NDC.

This initiative aims to equip constituents with the necessary skills and trades.

Dr. Bandim highlighted, "Our constituents are eager to pursue careers in the security services such as the police and army. However, they consistently face the requirement of English and Maths proficiency for admission. Due to the absence of a TVET institution in our vicinity, our people lack access to the crucial skills training essential for these professions."
