Information gathered by Agoo FM news indicates that a 30-year-old caterer, Aman Dora, has been apprehended for pouring a bucket of water containing faeces into a well at Atibie, in the Kwahu South Municipality of the Eastern Region.

Dora, admitting to the grievous act, conveyed to Agoo News her deep regret over the incident, citing discovering the unspeakable contents in her water bucket after closing from work around 9:30 pm last Wednesday.

Despite reporting the matter to her landlord, she was allegedly ignored, triggering her impulsive decision to contaminate the well on the premises out of frustration.

Meanwhile, Agoo news checks indicate that the well served as a vital water source for numerous residents and food vendors, particularly those in the ‘Mayanka’ area, a suburb of Atibie.

Unfortunately, the following day (Thursday, May 9th, 2024), the contaminated water had already been used by some food vendors, including waakye sellers, and residents before news of the contamination spread.

Although some customers had already purchased some of the foods, vendors swiftly withdrew their goods from circulation upon learning of the contamination.

Mr. Okyere, the landlord, expressed his dismay over the situation, citing health issues as the reason for his inability to address Dora’s initial complaint promptly.

Mr. Okyere refrained from pointing fingers but acknowledged tensions among tenants.

In addition, one tenant, speaking to Agoo News, pinned the blame on Dora for failing to mediate disputes within the community.

Responding swiftly to the crisis, Welbeck Afevia Dzidza, the Environmental Health Officer for the Kwahu South Municipal Assembly, ordered the immediate closure of the contaminated well. He condemned Dora’s actions and assured the public of forthcoming consequences for her actions.
