Watch NPP supporters chant Napo’s name as Bawumia's running mate at Kumasi airport reopening

Scores of supporters clad in colours of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) gathered to express support for Energy Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as Napo, amid speculation of his potential candidacy as the party's running mate in the 2024 elections.

The supporters waited for the arrival of the energy minister at the airport's commissioning event before breaking into chants.

In a video sighted by GhanaWeb, as Napo entered the area, the atmosphere was charged with chants of his name.

The supporters followed him, singing and cheering, as he made his way to his seat.

The energy minister, visibly moved by the reception, reciprocated with waves and gestures of appreciation, acknowledging the outpouring of support from the crowd.

Speculation has been rife regarding Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh's potential role as the running mate to the NPP's flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in the upcoming 2024 elections.
