NDC General Secretary, Fifi Kwetey NDC General Secretary, Fifi Kwetey

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has assured Ghanaians that it remains vigilant in safeguarding the votes come December 7, 2024.

The party’s general secretary, Fifi Kwetey, says the party will not sit unconcerned while the Electoral Commission is working with the government to rig the 2024 general elections.

He indicated that the NDC remains vigilant and committed to safeguarding your votes.

He said the party will ensure that every vote is cast, counted, and acknowledged for its rightful value.

He urged the EC to promptly rectify the inaccuracies in the data released on May 12, 2024.

The NDC, he added, expects a thorough review and corrections of all figures to forestall further errors, upholding the integrity of our election process.

He said the EC, which is expected to function as an impartial authority, has exhibited a worrying trend of incompetence that must not go unchallenged as we prepare for the presidential and parliamentary elections.

The chief scribe of the umbrella family further opined that although the EC is mandated to conduct free and fair elections, we have witnessed a systematic erosion of trust through its actions. Actions that reflect the corrupt and croynistic tendencies of the Akufo-Addo and Bawumia government.

He continued: “The NPP’s vile threats to retain power at all costs and the EC’s complicity in these threats represent a direct assault on the democratic principles that Ghana has long been celebrated for,” while addressing journalists on some challenges they raised over the ongoing limited registration exercise.

He also admonished civil society organisations and other stakeholders to voice their concerns over how the EC has conducted itself since that could undermine the integrity of the general elections.

He said it would be important for them to closely monitor the activities of the EC in order to ensure that the will of the people is not manipulated or rigged.

He stressed that the NDC will remain vigilant and do all it can to protect the will of the people in the upcoming elections.
