Hearts of Oak legend Amankwah Mireku has expressed his displeasure with the club’s dip in performance in the Ghana Premier League.

The Phobians have lost five of their last six matches and currently occupy the 12th position, just five points above the relegation zone.

Speaking on Akoma FM, Amankwah Mireku attributed the poor performance to players not giving their best in matches.

“Players join Hearts of Oak and lose focus because they want to make money and live an unnecessary lifestyle," he said.

“Salifu Ibrahim is a typical example. Was this his performance when he first joined the club? He no longer plays with passion or zeal."

“Instead of acknowledging the difficulty of playing for Hearts of Oak and putting forth extra effort, the players are just doing it anyhow. They manage to purchase some small cars, line up the girls, and that's it. They're just joking in the club,” Mireku added.

Hearts of Oak's next match is against Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park.

Amankwah Mireku captained Hearts of Oak and won the CAF Confederation Cup and seven league titles with the club.
