Say It Loud

Another poem for peasants

Matthew Arnold: The Scholar Gypsy, 4th stanza:

And near me on the grass lies Granvill?s book -

Come, let me read the oft-read tale again!

The story of the Oxford scholar poor,

of pregnant parts and quick inventive brain,

Who, tired of knocking at preferment?s door,

One summer morn forsook

his friends, and went to learn the Gypsy lore,

and roamed the world with that wild brotherhood,

And came, as most men deemed, to little good,

But came to Oxford and his friends no more.

My comment: And why should he - my grand-grandfather come back to them, borgeuosie infants just showing off babbling: "Shakespeare, Hobbes, Hume, Kafka, Kirkegaard, Dickinson, bla, bla, Poe, Shakespeare, Camus, Sartre, bla, bla, Richard Wright (good one though), Kwaku Timpa (a renowned Canadian intellectual), Wittgenstein, Homer, Aristotle, Quintillianus, bla bla, Crusading Guide, bla, bla, Hanna Arendt, Ernst J?nger, Claude Debussy, Rafael Romero, Picasso - Oh Yes! P-I-C-A-S-So!, bla, bla, bla, Guernica, Euripides, Kufour, Kant, bla, bla, Shakespeare again, his hack-writer Marlowe,Chaucer, Norman Mailer (dead yesterday), Donne, Roald Dahl, bla, bla, bla, bla, bla and so on... CAN?t YOU SEE I`M AN INTERRECTUAL; EDUCATED PERSON??

No, I can?t. You?re just a bum.
