The Greatest Summary of Life

Today I was reading the Book of Matthew and was once again blown away by a profound saying of the man Jesus Christ. His summary of the law and prophets and all that this world is about and the essence of life and requirements for a life well lived can be found in:

Matthew 22:29b

Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

What is love? Love is the unselfish, loyal and benevolent concern for the good of another. It is not an emotion, it is an active word. It is not passive, it is dynamic. It does not come easily, it takes work.

You do not need any other laws, you do not need the Hebrew bible or the Quran or the Torah or the Egyptian book of the Dead nor the Bhagavad Gita nor any other book on religion and life. Love is the HIGHEST GOOD!

You do not need a pen and paper or manuscripts or notepad or any device for recording. You do not need to be a Christian nor Muslim nor Jew nor African idol worshiper nor Buddhist nor Hindu or any other religion. Even if you are atheist or agnostic and do not believe in a God, this saying will allow you to live a good life.

Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. That is the fulfillment of all the requirements of the law. You can apply it to every situation and come up with the ideal course of action. It is instructive in every single situation in life.

It means Tom Thumb must love Mahama and DAWU must love Nana Addo and Ogyatanaa must love Nkrumah and JW must love his GMD and Kasa Barima must love ZongoMan and Kwaku Romeo, and finally you must all love the Eminent Theologian of SIL. Then would you achieve perfection.

Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

Ghana is the Greatest!
