That is a lie ! Yes , a LIE !! The word Barbarian is of Greek origin. Any Form 2 ( if not Form 1) student of a secondary school knows that. . The Barbary Coast has more to do with the name of the inhabitants of the area -- the Berber -- than with the activities of pirates in the area. Barbary is a corruption of Berber. Yes, the place is noted for its piracy throughout the 17th and 18th century . But it has absolutely nothing to do with the origin of the word barbarian. So stop falsifying history, idiot !
