The result of street life is depicted in this picture of a dejected young mother with her five-month old baby sleeping on a pavement, putting their lives in great danger should a vehicle veer off the road unto the pavement. Akos, 22, was sleeping on the pavement behind Tractor and Equipment near the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra, when our photographer came across her. Akos said she was impregnated by another unemployed a few months after she arrived from Nkawkaw, her hometown, to find a job in the city.
