Football fans continue to debate who deserves to win the 2026 Ballon d’Or as the ceremony is scheduled to take place on October 26, 2026, in London.
Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé, and Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane are among the leading contenders for the award.
The three players have enjoyed impressive campaigns, strengthening their respective cases for the honour. Their achievements at club and international levels have also fuelled the debate over who deserves to win.

For the first time since 2019, the Ballon d’Or ceremony will be held outside Paris. This year’s event is scheduled to take place in London, England, in honour of Stanley Matthews, the inaugural winner of the award.
Ahead of the ceremony, fans remain divided over who truly deserves to win the accolade. Some tip Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappé to clinch the award because of his individual brilliance during the season under review, having scored numerous goals across various tournaments.
Meanwhile, others believe England captain Harry Kane is also well-positioned to win the award, citing his excellent goal-scoring record and success in winning titles.
A section of fans are backing Spanish prodigy Lamine Yamal to win the award following his brilliant performances in last season’s La Liga, despite his underwhelming World Cup campaign.
