Nana Akomea breaks silence on absence during swearing-in of NPP executives

Newly elected 3rd National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akomea, has explained why he was absent during the introduction and swearing-in of newly elected national executives at the party’s National Delegates Conference.
His comments follow several reports of an alleged failed arrangement involving Kojo Bamba, who was elected as the 1st National Vice Chairman, and Henry Nana Boakye, the 2nd National Vice Chairman.

Responding to the reports, Nana Akomea on his Facebook page on Monday, October 5, 2026, said that he had left the conference grounds around 11:30 pm and was caught in traffic on his way back to the venue.
“I have also heard some story that my good friend Nana B and my good self were not available to be introduced as newly elected executives because we were upset over some failed arrangement with Kojo Bamba.
“Yes, I was not present for the introductions. I had left the conference grounds around 11.30pm. I got caught up in traffic on my way back to the stadium, and only reached the conference grounds a few minutes after the introductions had been done,” he explained.
He said his absence also meant he could not have taken part in any negotiations during the vote counting and tabulation, contrary to the reports.
“So, I was not present during the vote counting and tabulation, and so could not have engaged myself in any ‘negotiation’ with Kojo Bamba or anybody else,” he clarified.
“I also congratulate all my colleagues, both winners and non-winners, who expressed their willingness to work for the party by offering themselves for these competitive elections,” he added.
It will be recalled that the NPP held its national election to elect leaders who will run the party for the next four years and, most importantly, lead it into the 2028 general election.
The elections saw the emergence of Kwadwo Fosu Boadu, popularly known as Kojo Bamba, as the 1st Vice National Chairman of the NPP.
Boadu, a former leader of a vigilante group linked to the NPP, topped the 13-candidate vice-chairmanship contest with 3,160 votes, beating the likes of former NPP National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye (Nana B) and Nana Akomea, a former Managing Director of Intercity STC Coaches Limited and ex-Minister of State.

Nana B came second in the race with 3,061 votes, making him the 2nd Vice Chairman of the NPP, while Nana Akomea came third in the race, making him the 3rd Vice Chairman of the party.
