Lands Commission boss frustrating support to veteran entertainers – Mr Beautiful alleges

Ghanaian actor Mr Beautiful has accused the Acting Executive Secretary of the Lands Commission, Professor Anthony Owusu-Ansah, of frustrating efforts to secure land for the construction of homes for aged entertainers following a directive from President John Mahama. Speaking on UTV’s United Showbiz on October 3, 2026, Mr Beautiful explained that President Mahama had directed that land be made available to support the construction of a two or three-bedroom self-contained houses for aged Ghanaian entertainers who do not have places to live. According to him, the Lands Commission is yet to make the land available, which he believes is delaying the implementation of the initiative. “The person who is currently frustrating efforts to support actors and musicians in Ghana is the Lands Commission boss. President Mahama directed that land be made available so that he can help construct two- or three-bedroom self-contained houses for aged entertainers who do not have places to live. However, the Lands Commission boss, through bureaucracy, has refused to release the land for the construction,” he said. Mr Beautiful said he had personally conducted research and identified government lands in areas including Amasaman and Amrahia that could potentially be used for the project. He noted that some of the government lands, particularly at Amasaman, were gradually being encroached upon, yet the Lands Commission was still claiming to be searching for suitable land for the initiative. 'Even GH¢27,000 I didn’t touch; how much more GH¢2,000?' – Mr Beautiful rejects Adjoa Pee's claim “I have personally done my research and found that there are government lands at Amasaman, encroachers are gradually taking over the area. There is also government land at Amrahia, but the Lands Commission boss says he is still looking for land for us. I don’t know whether he is waiting for the budget to be read so that he can include it in the budget before releasing the land to us,” he noted. The Kumawood actor further disclosed that the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Dzifa Gomashie, had to intervene by engaging the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, over the matter. According to Mr Beautiful, following their discussions, Armah-Kofi Buah invited representatives of the Creative Arts Agency to discuss the issue and assured them of his support in securing land for the construction of the houses. “Dzifa Gomashie called Amarh Kofi Buah, and they discussed the issue. As the chairman of the Welfare Committee of the Creative Arts Agency, Amarh Kofi Buah subsequently called me, so I went with my chairman and our lawyer to meet him. We explained the situation to him, and he promised to help us secure the land,” he noted. Mr Beautiful, who serves as the Chairman of the Welfare Committee of the Creative Arts Agency, said several letters had since been sent to the Lands Commission in an effort to advance the project. However, he claimed that the Acting Executive Secretary of the Commission had yet to act on the presidential directive. “We have sent several letters to the Lands Commission, but the boss has refused to comply with the directive. I don’t know if he is waiting for God to create another piece of land before he gives us one,” he added. @officialutvghana Ghanaians should thoroughly investigate the matter to uncover the truth – Mr. Beautiful speaks on the alleged misappropriation of veteran entertainers’ funds #UnitedShowbiz ♬ original sound - UTV Ghana AK/EBSource: www.ghanaweb.com
