'Football cabal has infiltrated SWAG' – Coach Nimley alleges
Christopher Nimley has alleged that the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) has been divided and compromised by what he described as a “football cabal.”
Speaking on Sporty FM, Nimley questioned the association’s neutrality in matters concerning Ghana football, particularly its response to the Save Ghana Football demonstration.
He claimed that SWAG members had failed to support the demonstration at the time, alleging that some journalists associated with the organisation benefited from the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
“SWAG, at the time, we couldn't get the leadership to support us and put on record. Me, at times, I'm too blunt,” he said.
Nimley further alleged that some SWAG members travel with the Black Stars and enjoy similar privileges as the national team, which he believes could make it difficult for them to openly criticise football authorities.

“When the Black Stars are going, they will sit in the Black Stars' aeroplane. They will sit in the Black Stars' hotel. They will eat the Black Stars' food. Do you think they can correct GFA? They cannot,” he claimed.
He also accused some members of SWAG of mounting a counter-campaign during the Save Ghana Football demonstration.
“When we were demonstrating, a counter SWAG people, bought by the FA, they said football was in safe hands,” Nimley alleged.
He concluded by insisting that those advocating for reforms in Ghana football would continue their campaign regardless of SWAG's position.
“We will fight our own fight to rescue Ghana football. We don't need any writer from SWAG,” he said.
