Gang Rape, Murder of 28-Year-Old in Kasoa: What we know so far
A quiet community in Kasoa Peace Town in the Central Region was thrown into a state of shock and fear in the early hours of Sunday, October 4, 2026, after the body of a 28-year-old woman was found on the compound of her family house.
The deceased, identified as Monica Mawu Sibuso, is suspected to have been murdered following an alleged gang rape.
Confusion as Kasoa chiefs demand removal of MCE
Police have begun investigations into the circumstances surrounding her death, while her remains have been conveyed for preservation and autopsy.

About the deceased
According to available reports, Monica Mawu Sibuso was 28 years old and lived in Madina. She had travelled to Kasoa Peace Town to join her family for the funeral rites of a relative held on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
How was her body discovered
Monica's body was reportedly discovered at about 5:30 am on Sunday on the compound of her family's house.
According to her cousin, Esther Nyahor, a neighbour who had gone to sweep the compound found her and alerted the family. The police were subsequently informed.
“One of the neighbours discovered her hanging by the tree around 5:30 am when she tried to sweep the compound. She came to call my uncle who then reported the matter to the police immediately. We suspect that someone might have done that to her because she was tied to the branch of the tree with her headscarf while kneeling,” she said in a media interview with Channel One TV.
Also, Monica was found kneeling near a mango tree, with her headgear wrapped around her neck and tied to a lower branch of the tree. Her family suspects that she may have been killed and placed in that position.
Police suspect gang rape and murder
Preliminary investigations by the Central East Regional Police Command have pointed to alleged gang rape and murder.
Crime scene experts reportedly found her underwear torn and what is believed to be semen around her genital area.
The findings have led investigators to suspect that she may have been sexually assaulted before her death.
GH₵2,000 withdrawn from her MoMo account
Police are also investigating the suspected fraudulent withdrawal of GH₵2,000 from Monica's mobile money account. The withdrawal is believed to have occurred around the time of the incident.

Meanwhile, Monica's remains have been conveyed by the police for preservation and autopsy as investigations continue.
Her family has also called for a swift investigation and justice for the deceased.
