The campaign message of newly elected NPP 1st Vice Chairman Kojo Fosu Boadu, popularly known as Kojo “Bamba”, has resurfaced on social media following his election victory.
Kojo Bamba’s election has surprised many within and outside the party, particularly given the highly competitive race involving 13 candidates.
During his campaign, however, he had a simple message for delegates. He urged them to vote for two “educated” or “elite” candidates and then choose him, Kojo Bamba, as their “macho man” who would protect party members and their ballots during the general election.
He repeatedly reminded delegates that he was number two on the ballot paper and used the slogan that the “elephant” was returning to power.
“Vote for number two, vote for Akrakyefoc mmienu and macho man baako, me Kojo Bamba, so that I will protect you. Elephant is coming back again. Victory, victory, victory,” he said during his campaign.
Kojo Bamba faced competition from 12 other candidates, including Dr Mustapha Abdul Hameed, Nana Akomea, Samuel Pyne, George Kwabena Abankwah Yeboah, Richard Ahiagba, Alhaji Masawudu Osman, Richard Oti Aboagye, Abena Pokua Boaitey Amoah, Yaa Amponsah Frimpong, Henry Nana Boakye, Horma Miez and Bright Esselfie Kumi.
After voting ended in the early hours of Sunday, the Electoral Commission mounted the stage to announce the results.
Kojo Fosu Boadu, popularly known as Kojo Bamba, was declared the winner of the 1st Vice Chairman position after securing 3,116 votes.
He was followed by immediate past National Organiser Henry Nana Boakye, who obtained 3,061 votes, while former NPP Communications Director and former Managing Director of STC Nana Akomea placed third with 2,987 votes.
