Hawa Koomson wins NPP National Women's Organiser election

Mavis Hawa Koomson, a former Minister of Special Development Initiatives and former Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, has been elected as the National Women’s Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Hawa Koomson, who is also a former Member of Parliament (MP) for the Awutu Senya East Constituency, secured 783 votes to win the election.
Her contender, Hajia Safia, polled 429 votes.
The election forms part of the NPP’s efforts to elect a new set of national executives to lead the party as it reorganises ahead of the 2028 general elections.
More than 7,000 delegates from across the country participated in the election as the party seeks to wrestle power from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The election was held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
Delivering a speech on behalf of all the elected executives, the newly elected National Chairman, John Boadu, called on members of the party to unite and work together to recapture political power in the upcoming elections.
