Court grants Manhyia South MP GH¢10 million bail with two sureties

The Accra High Court has granted Manhyia South Member of Parliament Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah bail in the sum of GH¢10 million with two sureties.
The decision followed the Deputy Attorney General, Dr Justice Srem-Sai, waiving the prosecution’s right to oppose the bail application.
Baffour Awuah appeared before Specialised Court 2, sitting at Commercial Court 5 of the High Court Complex in Accra, on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
The MP had been in the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) following his voluntary surrender to the agency on October 1, 2026.
His appearance before the court followed EOCO’s decision to bring him before a court within the applicable constitutional timelines governing detention.
EOCO is investigating allegations involving criminal conspiracy, financial loss to SIC Savings and Loans, money laundering and tax-related offences, among other matters.
Baffour Awuah, who is also a Senior Partner at Sarkodie, Baffour Awuah and Partners, has disputed the allegations.
His lawyer, Samuel Atta Akyea, has maintained that the transactions under investigation arose from legal services provided by the law firm to SIC Life Savings and Loans and rejected suggestions of criminal conduct.
EOCO has since urged the public to refrain from speculation or drawing premature conclusions about the culpability of any person connected to the case.
The agency has stressed that its investigations are ongoing and that all persons involved remain entitled to their constitutional rights, including due process.
