Carlos Queiroz handed special invitation to CAF Strategy Conference

Former Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has been invited by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to speak at its upcoming Strategy Conference in Cape Verde, where leading figures in world and African football will discuss the continent’s football development and future competitiveness. The three-day conference is scheduled to take place from October 7 to 9, 2026, in Santa Maria on Sal Island. It will bring together national team coaches, football administrators and international experts to review Africa’s performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and identify strategies for improvement ahead of the 2030 tournament. Queiroz is expected to share the platform with prominent figures, including Arsène Wenger, FIFA’s Chief of Global Football Development, and several national team coaches. $56K Commission and More: What we know so far about NSA visa scandal Others listed among the speakers include Morocco coach Mohamed Ouahbi, former Cape Verde head coach Pedro Brito, popularly known as Bubista, Egypt coach Hossam Hassan and DR Congo coach Sébastien Desabre. The invitation comes shortly after Queiroz’s spell in charge of Ghana, which ended following a difficult run of results. Interestingly, Queiroz’s invitation recalls the case of Otto Addo, who was appointed to FIFA’s Technical Study Group for the 2026 World Cup after leaving his position as Black Stars coach. The conference will focus on turning lessons from the 2026 World Cup into practical steps to strengthen coaching, player development and the long-term competitiveness of African football.
