'I don't think the GFA can work with a competent coach' - Jerome Otchere

Sports analyst Jerome Otchere has questioned the Ghana Football Association’s ability to work effectively with a competent coach, arguing that excessive interference in technical decisions could undermine any coach appointed to lead the Black Stars.

Otchere speaking to 3sports said the GFA must give the coach full independence to make decisions on player selection and team management instead of micromanaging the technical team.

“I don’t think the GFA can work with a competent coach. If we are going to micromanage coaching selection, then whoever comes in will fail,” he said.

He cited former Black Stars coach Sékou Akuno’s reported concerns about a lack of independence in selecting players and coaching the team, saying such an arrangement makes it difficult for any coach to succeed.

Otchere further argued that the GFA’s approach could lead to the appointment of coaches who are easier to control, rather than coaches who insist on having the authority to make technical decisions.
