NPP delegates admit they are part of the party’s internal problems - Mussa Dankwah

Global InfoAnalytics Executive Director, Mussa Dankwah, has said NPP delegates themselves recognise that internal divisions within the party are contributing to its problems. According to him, responses from delegates showed an unusual level of self-reflection, with some acknowledging that party members themselves contribute to the conflicts they later complain about. “The delegates feel they are the source of the disturbance,” Dankwah said on Joy News. He said delegates understood the consequences of internal disagreements, particularly when losing candidates or their supporters continued to attack members of the party after internal contests. Dankwah recounted the experience of one delegate who pointed to a radio station allegedly owned by an NPP member who had contested an internal election. “He tells me that go and listen to this radio station this morning. It is owned by an NPP person. He contested with this gentleman. And because this gentleman won, he has turned his station into an anti-whatever,” he said. Dankwah said the delegate’s account reflected a broader concern among members about how internal disagreements are sustained within the party. “They know they are the cause of their own problems and all those things,” he said. According to him, the delegates were also increasingly connecting the party’s setbacks to disunity rather than simply blaming the absence of resources. “Disunity is what led them down, largely, along with other factors,” Dankwah said. His comments come ahead of the NPP’s October 3 national executive elections, in which delegates will elect nine national officers. Dankwah said the research suggested that delegates were now placing greater importance on unity as they considered the qualities required in the party’s next national chairman. Source: mynewsgh.com
