Be fearless and unique if you want to succeed in music – EL advises

Ghanaian rapper and producer EL has encouraged young and upcoming artistes to remain true to themselves instead of allowing industry expectations to dictate the kind of music they should create.
According to the musician, artistes who want to combine rap with singing or other musical styles should feel free to do so as long as they remain authentic to their identity.
Speaking during a discussion on Onua TV on September 30, 2026, EL said the current music industry gives artistes the freedom to experiment and create music that reflects their individuality.
“If you want to rap and do singing too, go ahead. Don’t listen to anybody. In this industry right now, it’s a free-for-all. People want to hear something original and unique,” he said.
EL urged upcoming musicians not to be afraid of blending different styles, noting that authenticity and originality can help them connect with the right audience.
“So if you’re rapping and you want to blend it with singing or whatever, be true to yourself. Be whoever you are as an artiste,” he added.

The Koko hitmaker also encouraged young artistes to recognise their individual talents and avoid comparing themselves to others in the industry.
“I believe that God has created us all to be unique, to have our own talents and have the unique light that we want to shine into the world,” he stated.
EL further urged upcoming artistes to be as distinctive as possible, assuring them that remaining authentic can help them find an audience that appreciates their style.
“Just be as original as you can and you will find your people,” he shared.
He concluded by sharing what he considers the key principles young artistes should follow as they build their careers.
“The number one rule is to keep God first, then be fearless and be unique, then you’re good,” EL advised.
